Greetings in the Matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Six of us just returned from Mozambique. What a rewarding trip! Rathel Housewirth, Tracy Campbell, Katelyn Basham, Steve Wilson, Pastor Brett Beasley and myself had a wonderful time ministering to the Shangan people of Mozambique. Doug and Debbie Crawford (far left) were also part of our team, but they stayed in Mozambique. In August they will move into their little round house in Polokwane, S Africa.
I taught the church leaders on the subject, “What is the Gospel?”. Pastor Brett taught them about counseling. We had 11 this year. The teaching was well received. It is good to see the growth in the lives of the people over the years.
Rathel Housewirth taught the women every afternoon at 2:00. By the end of our time there they had 150 in attendance.
Tracy and Steve taught the children a lesson every afternoon at 4:00 & then they had a play time.
Steve, Tracy and Rathel helped feed the orphans & taught them a lesson on Wednesday.
We had worship services in three places every night. Since there were only two of us preachers our interpreters, with the exception of Anna, got to take turns preaching as well. Our interpreters this year were (L to R) Joseph, Member, Aaron, Nehemiah and Anna. It was a special treat for all of us. One evening Joseph preached in Shangan & Member translated into English.
We preached in Xicumbane every night except for Saturday. We showed the Jesus Film in Shangan that night. We also preached at the School in Chowe and under the trees in Lisenga every night as well.
Doug, Debbie and Katelyn took a boat across the river to Ngala every afternoon to teach the women and children. We didn’t get to have services there because of the river being so deep that we couldn’t drive across it.
We got to do a devotion at the Xicumbane school every morning.
We started our days with coffee and rusks at 6:30 every morning & then our group devotion at 7:00 with breakfast at 8:00. Thanks to all the good help we had from South Africa. Left to right, Gordon Hayes, Logan (short-termer from TX), Gideon and Cornie Odendaal, David van Graan, Joseph and Wilhamenah Mahlaola, Jan and Mpa. We would not be able to make it with them.
We finished up on Sunday afternoon with a “Love Feast” in Xicumbane for all the surrounding villages as well.
Thank you so much for your prayers.
As always, I want to thank each and every one of you who supports ZMI. It is truly exciting to watch God at work in His world and a blessing to be able to obey His great commission.
In His Love & Service,
Bro. Joe
